Longest Hours of Rain

Today's rain had caused many people to stay in cold. — Source from the internet.

It was the first time in 2011 to rain from morning until evening. It was also (according to my bad memory), to be the first long hours of rain since 2001, which of that year’s Qing Ming, Kampung Berembang was flooded because the holding pond (an ex-mining pond) unable to hold the water anymore. That time was my encounter of flood and it did flood our house.

This time, the rain falls almost every day.  The rain will be expected to fall on the first day of Chinese New Year too (source from weather.com). Chinese people used to say: If the rain falls during certain occasions, means that event organized by a stingy person. Will it also mean that this Chinese New Year, people will be stingy to give away “big” angpau?

According to what my mother told me, the rain started around 7:30 a.m. and continued to fall until 9:15 p.m. This record had broken down the 2001 Qing Ming’s record for the longest hours of rain in history of Huluwood Book of Records. My mother even washed all the carpets of our house to be hung under the sun. Because there was no sun, my mother hung all of it under the rain for the breeze to dry it.

Due to long hours of rain, the temperature was cold and around 23°C or lower. I need hot shower in order to warm up myself and used Bio Oil to keep it warm. The last resort was I walked to the nearest mamak stall and take-away goat soup (sup kambing) to drink it. This had made me warm and to withstand the cold temperature during the night.
